Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Swedish artist, Dan Florén in Unbound Perspectives. The exhibition is scheduled to run from November 27, 2012 through December 18, 2012. The opening reception will be held on Thursday night, November 29, 2012 from 6-8 pm.
About the Artist
Courageously brave in theme and aesthetic, Swedish painter Dan Florén translates the ethereal exquisiteness of the natural world into transfixing poetry in his abstract paintings. Working within the tenants of Abstract Expressionism and building on the work of such masters as Jackson Pollock, Florén nevertheless strikes his own artistic path, using a trowel to create stratums of canvases and wood, bound by aluminum, and allowing the captivating vivaciousness of his colors and compositions to reach out into the viewers’ space. His uses of hue and texture are intoxicating, with a palette that echoes subtle nuances in the evolution of the natural seasons, from spring through winter. “My interest and challenge is to catch and submit my emotions into a strict abstract composition, without using picture elements like trees, landscape etcetera,” explains Florén. “I am searching for the colors that light and darkness give to the experience of the seasons, from dusk to dawn.”
Dan Florén lives on the west coast of Sweden, where he was born and raised, and the hues and tinges of his home seep into his work.
